John began his career in 1975 in the credit training program at Chase Manhattan Bank. From there, he joined Chase’s corporate lending group and then its merchant banking group, where he structured project finance transactions globally. In 1981 he joined Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb’s merger arbitrage department as a research analyst. Two years later John joined First Eagle, where he launched its merger arbitrage business as a portfolio manager. In 1988, he was appointed co-director of the firm’s institutional securities business. In 1994, he became co-CEO and leader of the firm’s investment management, brokerage and global securities businesses. After the sale of the firm’s investment banking and global securities businesses in 2002, John took over full responsibility for all aspects of the firm. He served as CEO until February 2010, when he assumed the title of Chief Investment Officer, maintaining his role as Chairman. John received his BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Bridget A. Macaskill, President and CEO

Bridget A. Macaskill joined First Eagle Investment Management in January 2009 as President and Chief Operating Officer. In February 2010 she was named Chief Executive Officer, maintaining her role as President. She offers a wealth of experience in the asset management industry. She has served as Chief Operating Officer, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Oppenheimer Funds, Inc. as well as a board director of several large public companies. Bridget currently serves as a trustee and member of the Investment Committee of the TIAA-CREF funds. She has been active as a board member and advocate for numerous non-profit organizations. She is also recognized for creating the Oppenheimer Funds' Women & Investing program, which is dedicated to educating American women about the need to take charge of their personal finances. A native of the United Kingdom, Bridget received her BS from the University of Edinburgh and completed post graduate studies at the Edinburgh College of Commerce.
